Nawazuddin Siddique and his ex-wife summoned by Bombay HC stating court is concerned about the children

Actor Nawazuddin Siddique and his estranged ex-wife Aaliya, also known as Anjana Pandey, have been summoned by the Bombay High Court to explore the possibility of a settlement for the sake of their children. The court has directed both parties to be present in their chamber on April 3, 2023, at 4.30 pm. The bench has expressed concerns for the children, in response to a statement made by Siddique’s advocate. Siddique had filed a habeas corpus petition seeking full custody of their children, aged 7 and 12, and also a defamation suit against his brother and wife, seeking damages of Rs. 100 crore.

An ongoing domestic violence case has been filed against Nawazuddin Siddique by his estranged ex-wife Aaliya, which is currently pending before the Magistrate’s court. Siddique had filed a habeas corpus petition, claiming that his wife and children are citizens of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and since her return to India, their children have been missing school. During a hearing on Thursday, Siddique’s advocate, Adnan Shaikh, informed the court that the matter was being explored for a possible settlement, but his ex-wife’s lawyer has not responded to the proposal yet.

Siddique’s advocate, Adnan Shaikh, expressed his doubts that the ex-couple would agree to a settlement. When Justice Dere suggested mediation as a possibility, the ex-wife’s advocate stated that it was unaffordable for her. Shaikh further stated that Siddique was unaware of his children’s whereabouts and that they were not attending school, with the school even sending messages to that effect. The bench, concerned about the children’s education, directed both parties to be present at the earliest, on April 3, in the judge’s chambers.
