A Bengaluru court has remanded Suraj Revanna to 14 days of judicial custody in a sexual abuse case

Magistrate KN Shivakumar passed the order today after a special Sunday hearing at his house located in National Games Village, Koramangala

A Bengaluru court on Sunday sent Karnataka Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Dr. Suraj Revanna, elder son of HD Revanna and brother of Prajwal Revanna, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with a sexual abuse case.

Magistrate KN Shivakumar passed the order after a special Sunday hearing at his residence in National Games Village, Koramangala.

Suraj Revanna was arrested by Hassan police on Sunday morning following his interrogation at Hassan’s cyber station on Saturday evening.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Suraj under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (illegal detention), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention), based on a complaint filed by a young man.

The complainant had informed the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Minister that Suraj Revanna had engaged in sexual intercourse with him at Gannigada Farm House in Channarayapatna taluk. The young man requested appropriate action, alleging that he and his family were threatened by Suraj Revanna and his close friend Shivakumar from Hanumanahalli village.

The case was transferred to Holenarseepur Rural Police Station, and a statement was obtained from the complainant on Saturday, leading to the registration of the FIR. Earlier today, the DGP transferred the case to the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

Notably, on Friday, Shivakumar had also filed a complaint against the young man at Holenarasipur City Police Station. He alleged that the youth had threatened to accuse Revanna of sexual assault if he did not help him find a job, and that the young man had demanded ₹5 crore to avoid filing the allegedly false complaint.
