The Delhi Police has arrested a thirty-six-year-old woman for allegedly extorting money from a person in the national capital when a lady in his know falsely accused him of rape, said the Delhi Police on Friday. The Police also mentioned that the man was under custody soon after the FIR (First Information Report) was lodged against him in the matter earlier this month.
The arrested woman has been identified as Madhu, a 36-year-old lady who made the plan with her husband and another lady to extort money from Sunil Sharma as they were facing financial issues.
The Police said in its statement that the woman was unemployed and lacking money and therefore, she planned the whole conspiracy with two more people.
Initially, she had demanded Rs. 50 lakh ransom money from Sunil’s family for withdrawal of the complaint, which they negotiated, and eventually Rs. 20 lakh fixed to withdraw the complaint, Police added.
Sunil’s family recorded the whole conversation made during the negotiation and handed it to the police after which, the police lodged the FIR.
On Thursday, the “so-called victim” and Madhu called a family member of Sunil’s family to Madhu Vihar with the ransom money. However, a family member of Sunil’s family refused to give money and told that he would give money only when the person who actually registered the case against Sunil arrived there.
In the Police statement, it was said, “After this, she came to the spot in an auto and said that the money should rather be given to Madhu and refrained from getting off the three-wheeler and left. The police caught Madhu right after she tried fleeing from the spot taking the ransom money of Rs 20 lakh.”
The search for the other companion girl of Madhu is still underway.
It’s a February 8 case, when the absconding woman (identified as Madhu) filed a false rape case against Sunil Sharma at the Shakarpur Police Station of east Delhi. Despite several efforts, she was not agreed to record her statement in court under CrPC section 164.
