The husband submitted CCTV footage to the police, displaying his wife physically assaulting him, binding his hands and feet, and inflicting cigarette burns as a form of torture.
A woman named Mehar Jahan from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by Seohara district police on May 5 for abusing her husband and causing burns on his body with a cigarette while restraining him. The arrest came after her husband lodged a complaint against her.
According to Manan Zaidi, his wife Mehar drugged him, tied his limbs, and proceeded to burn him with a cigarette.
Providing police with CCTV footage captured inside their home, Manan Zaidi presented evidence of Mehar Jahan physically assaulting him, tying him up, and attempting to strangle him while seated on his chest. The footage also showed her burning his body with a cigarette.
Manan Zaidi stated that he had previously reported his wife’s abusive behavior to the authorities, detailing incidents where she drugged him, bound his hands and feet, and subjected him to various forms of mistreatment.
The police have lodged a case against Mehar Jahan under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempted murder, assault, and torture, and she has been taken into custody.
“Based on the complaint, the police have registered a report against the accused woman under relevant sections and arrested her. Further action is being taken,” Superintendent of Police Dharampal Singh said.
