Supreme Court directs all High Courts to include fundamental details such as the FIR number and police station in bail orders.

The Supreme Court has observed that there is a lack of consistency in the format of bail orders among the High Courts.

As a result, the Court has directed the High Courts to include essential information in bail orders, such as the nature of the offense and pending proceedings in the trial court. This decision was made by a bench comprising Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Dipankar Datta.

The bench directed all High Courts to include essential information in bail and anticipatory bail orders.

This information includes the FIR number, date, concerned police station, and alleged offenses.

The order will be circulated to all High Courts through their Registrars.
