The case got the glare of the media as she was forcefully cremated by the police.
The forceful cremation was taken cognizance suo moto by the Allahabad High Court.
Subsequently, the case was transferred to the CBI by the Allahabad High Court.
The justice delivery takes it course but at times, the media trials in India can lead to the wrongful imprisonment of innocent individuals by prejudicing the trial, sensationalizing the case, leaking information, and influencing public opinion.
The media can create a biased environment that hinders a fair trial and distorts facts, leading to negative public perception and unfair advantage to the prosecution. The pressure to deliver verdicts in line with public sentiment can also affect the outcome of the trial.
