Cheating on Spouse

Cheating on Spouse

Cheating in a marriage is not new, but for the average Indian it is a sin which cannot be repaired or forgotten. Still many people face cheating by their respective spouses and are left helpless as there is no place as per them to approach and get help.

In a recent survey it was found that about 55% of married Indians have been unfaithful to their spouses and out this population 56% are women who have been unfaithful to their partners once or more than that.

Contrary to the belief, Indian women were found to be more open minded about infidelity especially when romance is involved. Riding on these facts and statistics many online portals and Apps have started services in which women can have a romantic conversation or intimate talk with a total stranger and enjoy as these portals offer complete security to identity. And The Supreme Court of India decriminalising Adultery in 2018 Women members have increased dramatically as the fear has diminished.

Moreover with almost all matrimonial laws in favour of women and the divorce rate being quite low it is the men who are at the receiving end. Further, 49% of married people in India confessed of having had an intimate relationship with someone other than their spouse, while almost 5 out of 10 have already indulged in casual sex (47%) or one-night stands (46%). Indian women are the most uninhibited towards infidelity–41% of them admitted of having had regular sexual intercourses with someone other than the spouse, against 26% men. 53% of Indian married women admitted having already had an intimate relationship outside their marriage, against 43% men.

Even falling in love with more than one person at the same time is ok with almost 48% of the population and a huge percentage of 46% people believe think that one can cheat on a person while still being in love with them. This is probably why Indians are ready to forgive their partners in case they found out about the affair as 7% would forgive the partner without a second thought, while 40% would do so if the circumstances were justifying.

People who’ve been betrayed need to know that there’s no shame in staying in the marriage — they do not have to be doormats, but warriors,” “The gift they provide to their families by working through the pain is enormous.”

  1. Initially IPC 497 scrapped. Now Delhi HC says one or two acts of Adultery doesn’t mean spouse is living in adultery and Husband should give maintenance to her. Such approach of judiciary is very deterimental for Marriage and stability of families in India.
