According to police officials, Cricketer Prithvi Shaw was reportedly assaulted and his vehicle was damaged with a baseball bat outside a high-end hotel in Santacruz, Mumbai, after he had an argument with a female social media influencer and her male companion. The altercation began after the player declined to take photos with the influencer. On Thursday evening, Sapna Gill, also known as Sanna, was taken into custody and will appear in the Andheri court on Friday. Shaw and two of his companions confronted Gill and her friend, Shobhit Thakur, for repeatedly attempting to take selfies with the player in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Following Shaw’s refusal, Thakur and Gill waited outside the hotel for 25 minutes for the cricketer and his companions to exit, according to police reports. This incident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
Law enforcement officials have reported that Thakur and Gill vandalized Prithvi Shaw’s BMW by striking it with a baseball bat, causing extensive damage to the car’s windshield and rear screen. The police have also revealed that Thakur contacted six additional individuals and, along with Gill, pursued Shaw’s vehicle for 10 kilometers under the mistaken assumption that he was inside it. However, Shaw had already left the scene in a separate vehicle following the altercation. These actions constitute criminal offenses and are under investigation by the authorities.
